Music

Music has always been an important part of my life. I taught piano for several years, and now teach my grandchildren. I've had the privilege of accompanying several musical productions at the Dallas Christian Elementary, and have accompanied band and choral students in the upper grades when they go to contests.

Recently I have written songs for my second grade students to help them learn spelling rules.

MESQUITE CIVIC CHORUS

We were associated with the Mesquite Civic Chorus from 1987 to the year 2000. It was composed of professional and non-professional musicians from the Mesquite/East Dallas area. Rosemary Heffley directed the chorus and Dede Duson was its talented composer/accompanist. The chorus was organized in 1986 and performed in many halls of distinction. In 1988 they performed the Mozart Requiem at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 1991 there was an appearance at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. and at Bruton Parish church in Williamsburg, Va. There were two concerts at the International Festival Institute at Round Top, Texas. In 1997 the chorus performed the Brahms Requiem with the Festival Hill orchestra.

The MCC performed the Mozart Requiem on April 10, 1999 at the Mesquite Arts Center. A second performance was given at the Murchison Performing Arts Center at UNT in Denton.
